breather sending units Q
Heyowdy all-
Trying to get parts order together to get motor back in STAT, not finding these in my 930 manual (I suk). What are the two same sending units affixed to the top/center breather by the firewall (triangle of death)? Are they known to fail? I resealed the housing gasket and installed a new rubber end of hose there 3yrs ago but it's leaking pretty badly there - figuring it's one or both of those senders? There's also a more beefy sender a few inches (like Rawknees, on a good day) toward the passenger side - what's that one? Might as well order that too eh? TIA, germz! 8-) |

The red top is the oil pressure sender for the idiot light. Part #: 911-606-230-00-OEM
I don't have another sensor in that area, I think my biggest leak was the breather hose. There are a lot of write ups about applying JB weld to that sensor where the red plastic is crimped to the housing. New sensors leak there.

the two coming out of the breather cover. One is a thermal valve for the distributer advance. Thats the one with the two vacuum fittings sticking out of it. The other is a temperature switch but forgot what it's connected to. If it's not needed for EFI i'll be plugging that one also.

thanks Derrick / Ken / yard
I've def got two on the breather cover - they're both the same IIRC, with vacuum lines. So order two of the same? I think the pressure sender for the idjut light is the 3rd one just to the right of the breather, it's larger and looks like an oil pressure sender the other two are smaller w/ vac fitting and a wire. My hose was leaking at the crimp fitting, I'd cut that and added hose w/ clamp so should be set. |

Called Pelican to place my order for these vac switches and they said they have no diagrams that show a pair of these switches... yet that's what I've got and it's stock.
any thoughts? Again - I very much have two switches mounted into the breather housing - one has an elec spade AND a vac fitting / line the other merely an elec spade. TIA germz. Last edited by krasuskyp; 05-25-2018 at 07:48 PM.. |

Dumb question but do the sensors themselves leak or just the crush washer? Seems pauly you just need aluminum washers or copper ones if the sensors are working

there's the rub - I've no idea... figured I'd replace the stupid switches just in case as I've heard they can leak at the plastic to metal seam

Those don't usually leak. Unless it's at the crush washer. They only see crankcase pressure. The red pressure switch next to the breather cover sees full oil pressure and will leak at the metal, plastic joint.
