OK Pelicans, 46 or 40 webers for 2.8 10.3 DC40
OK, my engine is going together soon. The engine is the 2.8 twin plug from my previous thread. I ended up pulling the big heads off and had some heads worked on that will end up with 37mm intake and 36mm exhaust. ...pulled out the RSR cams and am having a set of DC40s put in. Targeted compression ratio is between 10 and 10.5:1.
Now one of the next things to decide is carbs. I have both 46 and 40s on the shelf. What would be the better solution 40s or 46s? This will be a street car but will not be babied in any way but I do want it to have at least some manners hence the new heads and smaller cams. Thanks in Advance!

I’m running 40mm zeniths with a dc40 cam. 36mm intake ports. Very nice performance street and track.
I would think you’d need a more aggressive cam to take advantage of 46mm carbs on a 3.0 engine. Probably not a great street engine. |

Unless you need 8K RPM power, stick with 40mm carbs and either 34mm or 36mm venturies.
