Hello, I'm Jack the snowman, Frost

I want to introduce myself at this time. The reason is that some people get a little to excited about some of my posts and they shouldn't.

I am ultra conservative in everything I actually do on an engine. I do everything as by the book as you can get, double check everything, even keep a log..

At times I can very on the edge of things in discussions. The reasons are varied, eg provoke discussion, illuminate a point, just looking at how things work from a differn't angle. Also I like to know what the extreems actually are.

I am a retired (on disability, unfortunately) electronics engineer (MSEE), consultant, businessman, inventor, and car tinkerer since I was 6 years old and first steered ( I couldn't touch the pedals yet) a car, and started driving at around age 8 (we had a farm).

I have access to a complete auto machine shop, thanks to Saddleback community college. Its a real complete shop to, has a balancing machine, flow bench, boring bars, hones, mills, chassis dyno, latest Hunter alignment racks, a lot of trick racing related stuff, every type of valve machine, you name it they probably have it. I sign up for the same class every year so I get puttering rights at the shop. I get to do things most of us have always wanted the time to do. Unfortunately it takes me 10 to 15 times the time it once did to do the things but I keep at it and eventually get it done, sometimes. For example it can take me 3 or 4 days just to get the spark plugs changed and I have been working on the latest 911 engine for over 3 years now! Want to hire me at an hourly rate?

In my past, before the plague struck me, I had build many many engines of all types, I had over 16 cars when I was still 16! Broke and rebuilt almost all of them at least once. completely restored one car, partially did others, built a Porsche race car (which I race in VARA). When I say I did it I mean I did everything, machining, welding, assembly, painting, alignment, everything. I have even rebuilt my BMW M6. Taking the Saddleback engines and blueprinting class many times over has added some to my knowledge base.

But anyway I am writing this so people do not get to bent out of shape when I say things, its not the way I operate, just the way I talk. I have found that it results in more and sometimes better information. It is not ment to incite people in any way, its just that some people are more thin skinned than I am calibrated at. So if I somehow offend you it wasn't ment to and I appologize in advance. I also can't spell, or type and the spell check dosen't work on this browser for some reason.

Don't worry about it. Remember though that manners and mild writing help maintain the generally pleasant atmosphere here. Sorry about the plague if I understand your meaning; courage and best wishes to you. Cheers, Jim

Alternative thoughtful views are always needed, Jack.
You have the time most of us don't to work these ideas out, so keep on posting.
