Case machined for LN nickies - how tight?

I have a case that has been machined to fit LN nickies and I have the cylinders as well. During a test fit (just resting the cylinder into the case), there seems to be quite a bit of clearance - the point where the cylinder can rock slightly in the case. Is this normal? What clearance is usually required?

Thanks!

Call or email LN Engineering. I am sure they are happy to give you the specs. I have found Charles and his team incredibly responsive and more than willing to help.

Cheers

Hi Jeff - I did just send an inquiry to LN. They are super nice - talked to them at Rennsport and Amelia. The research is half the fun

After further inspection..while they seem to rock slightly - there is no side movement to speak of once they are flat against the case.

As someone who machines cases, obviously, let me tell you, the case to spigot fit is quite loose. This is normal.

I know on our cases, we make the cylinder spigots tighter than factory. I think our number is 107.05 and 109.05. However, on my case we cheat a little because we have a lot more meat than factory. Pic attached.

Thanks - Mine sounds like you are describing. I was just looking at it and it's close..just not "tight" - which is probably intentional and needed.

Looks fine. It will not be a tight fit.

The minimum clearance between the case spigot and the cylinder skirt is about .004".

Thanks guys. I’ll likely send the case to LN to have checked and basically help me prep everything for assembly - so we will see for sure

When the cylinder is flat to the case, there is no perceivable movement at all side-to-side. It’s only until it’s flush against the block, that it seems a bit loose.
