SSIs on 3.2SS - midrange vs top end
I read several times now that SSIs may be limiting top end on a 3.2 engine
Would this be at higher rpms only ? I run stock SC cams on a 3.2 SS street only car, and I am more interested in torque between 3500 and 5000 than what might be left higher up I noticed before how car seems to be quicker on the backroads with a more restrictive muffler because what feels like better midrange torque See an opportunity to get rid of one set-up from the basement and sell off the SSI setup I realize this post should have been on technical, and not engine rebuilding but unable to move or delete.... actually seing there is another post on technical just now I would have liked to delete this. But how is beyond me

Trond,
The only data I've seen on this forum is that SSI's made more power under 2800rpm on a 3.2 but above this the 1 5/8 inch OD primary headers made more power. Sorry I haven't a link but a bit of Googling may uncover it. |

I had them on my 3.4 before going 3.5 and Eisenmann.
I liked the delivery on the 3.4; you can feel a restriction as you approach 5500rpm, but 9 times out of 10 it delivered torque just where you need it on a street car. The Eisenmann restored the push over 6000rpm.
