Ring gap: JE set vs rebuild app A

JE pistons provided the following

Borex0.045” for min gap.

With 98 mm cylinder this yields

3.86”x 0.005 = 0.0193” or ~ 0.5 mm min gap
Seems to be wider than the values in Wayne’s rebuilding thesis (.2 mm - .4 mm) using 1982 - 1989 values.

I think I’ll go with JE numbers, just find it odd.
Curious what others do

ring gap

Be sure to look at the formula for what you are using the engine for, ie.street, race, blown/nitros etc. follow what Je suggest and you are fine, be sure they are square and detail the ends for burrs.
