engine support on stand

I have my turbo engine out and want to hang it on an engine stand,I've been told the 4 studs that mount the trans to the block will support the weight of the engine on an engine stand is this fact?? thank you

As mentioned previously, I just heard the other day about an engine that broke on the 4-prong stands. Particular with a 911 Turbo engine (which is much heavier than a regular 911 engine), I would not go with anything but the official five-pronged stand.

Wayne, did the yoke itself break or did the threads pull out of the block? I'm afraid that even using the 5 prong yoke the aluminum block threads would not hold the studs or bolts? The studs only screw in about an inch?

turbos definitely can be chancy in an engine stand. if nothing else, fab up a support bar between engine and floor. i had a mag case engine pull the top stud out once, which also broke the bottom stud off on the way down. just missed my foot.

I currently have the turbo engine on the 5 yoke/engine stand. The engine had the CIS and heat exchangers when it was secured to the yoke. At that point, it is really no heavier than a 3.6 or 3.2 litre engine.
I say go for it.
