Question 930 compression check

first of all please excuse my ignorance if I ask a dumb question but..I'm new to the 911/930, I bought a '76 wide body with a 79' 930 engine and want to clean it up and get it in shape....
I have the engine and trans out of the car on a dolly(trans separated and clutch out)and would like to check the compression. Can it be done?(re; dry sump)If so can someone take a minute to explain method/tips etc. TIA
Ken Martin

I suppose you could reattach the transmission and starter and then turn the motor over that way. I wouldn't want to do that with the oil drained though. How about doing a leak down instead? It isn't as good an indicator as a compression test IMO but it is easy to do with the motor out of the car.
