You can also reach knightracer (William Knight) for the filter console.

Yep, definitely a cooler by pass. I am looking for an early oil filter console, I think possibly a 73. Will use it to attach to my already built block off which will then accept the OC 54 type filter. Failing that, will have to buy one.

Do you mean the early factory racing oil filter consoles? Those bring a pretty penny. There are some repros, and even those cost a couple thousand, I believe.

I think around 74 for street cars, the threaded nipple for the oil filter became integral with the oil tank. Prior, an aluminum flange was bolted to the tank and then the filter mounted to the flange. If I can locate one of those, I will machine an adaptor block that will attach it to the blockoff plate that I have already made. The gadget you are talking about I think may be that organic looking piece with fins and snorkles and louvers from the mid 70s.

Maybe you are thinking about the '72 which had the serprate oil filter console.

Up to and including '71 the oil filter and all the oil lines and fittings were smaller than later years, so I doubt you want to use one of those.

All the tanks, filters, and fittings were basically the same from '73 on.

The 72 console was the sidewinder affair that had an integral thermostat. I am running one of those setups on a track car. The oil filter changed as you mention, in 72 and I think in 73 they were still using an oil filter adaptor as they relocated the tank back behind the RR wheel. And that adaptor part number I think is 911 107 671 00. Am looking. Thanks, Bob
