964
i have an early 89 964 3.6 engine all apart for a rebuild . ? on the heads iam going to use mahley 102 p&c 11 to 1 compression ratio ,carillo rods ,the cyl have the head gasket ring in them .i think the the heads need to be fly cut out to allow the cyld;s to seal is that the correct way to do it , or not ?i think with my calculations the heads will be about 3 to 5 thousands lower . i am not going with bigger valves but will be using 993ss cams. wondering if any one else has gone this route ,and what problems i might encounter ? thanks .any input or info is appreciated . slammin

I don’t recall the head seal to the cylinder being a problem by that year.
All 24 head studs would be dilivar on 964 Bruce |

If the heads are from an engine without sealing rings (90-91) then they must be machined to accept the later cylinders. The sealing surface is bigger on the cylinders with the sealing rings. BTW, the last 964 was 1994, so if your engine is a 964 it's earlier than a 98.
