Porsche 911 2.2 t 1971 cylinders and pistons

I am rebuilding my motor 911/07. I would like to Ask you about size od cylinders and pistons for this motor. I have not enouth money for mahle and i would like to buy everything from qsc. My old cylinders have 84 mm. I saw pistons from qsc- they have 83.95 mm. Is IT will be good for 84 mm cylinders? 0.05 clearanse is good for this kind od engine?

I have used the 86mm p&c sets from AA Pistons and have had great success. I believe they are around $750 for a set.

If you are buying pistons and cylinders, you can consider 83.95 to be the same as 84.

If you plan on reusing your old pistons with these cylinders, you will have to be careful and measure. Porsche lists, for the T, piston to cylinder clearance as 0.025 to 0.045mm.

I'm guessing the qsc sets have higher compression?

The originial T cast iron cylinders can be honed to fit oversize pistons you can buy from Woesner (German company). In this way you'll have a brand new set-up for a resonable price. First get the pistons and then let your machine shop hone the cylinders to match.

QSC and AA are both Chinese manufactures with sales headquarters in the US.

My experience has been that AA are a higher quality.

trev from australia. I have a 1971 911 2.2T. I removed main sump plate and removed wire filter. I found a steel 30mm round slit clip loose. I also found alloy oil pump pickup tube very loose, easy to pull out. Motor was running prior to draining oil. Any ideas about the clip and tube and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Post a picture in the 911 Technical Forum and you will probably get more responses.

Be very careful about re-using pistons designed for Nikasil Aluminium cylinders in cast iron cylinders.
They expand differently so the tolerances are different.
I would buy cylinders which come complete with matching pistons and rings.
