3.0 carbon build up on cylinders
I have no idea if this is normal or not.
3.0 was told it has about 80k miles on it and ran last year. So I was just playing around and decided to stick my snake camera into the hole. This is what I see. Massive carbon deposits? Why is it wet looking? Is this a big concern? Or what the hell am I seeing here? Looks like goo stuck to the walls. Like someone put motor oil into the gas tank. One cylinder (last pic). Looks clean. Maybe something was poured in there for storage. And maybe it will burn off when I fire her up again. That’s my wishful thinking. Tell me I’m right. Drive it a while and check it again. But really drive it. Maybe an hour on the freeway.
From the looks of it the rings are shot, but until you drive it and have some data, like smoking or oil consumption it's just a guess how bad it may or may not be.

This is what my 3.2 looked like from worn valve guides. I rebuilt the top end.

Just pulled my heads on an 87 3.2 due to oil on the intake valves. They look similar to Ed's.
