3.6 distributor gear part number?
Installing one of Rasant's cam/crank pickups in a 3.6 and need to find a factory distributor gear to go on pickup:
![]() Checked the PET and there's no number assigned to the gear, but at the bottom of the list shows "PINION" with the following part number: 930-602-424-02 I assume that's the ticket, but the part is special order from our host and is non-returnable, so I would love to not make a $140 guess. Can anyone confirm, deny, or provide any insights? Thanks!

Distr. gear
Hi mike i have a couple of dizzys and a few spare parts. The part # 930 602 424 02 you are asking about is for all 84-89 3.2 and all C2 turbo 91-94 including the 3.6.
AFAIN they do not list a pinion gear for any of the 964/993 twin plug dizzys. Can you post the illustration # and the position # where you found that pinion listed for a 964/993 dizzy in PET. When i get a chance i will try and compare a 964/993 pinion gear to a 3.2 to see if they appear to be the same. The pinion you are referencing is available from Porsche but no stock in the USA only Germany. FYI all the 84-89 3.2 and all 964/993 including Turbos use the same distributor drive gear on the crank, 930 102 112 01, Hope this info helps you out. Richard

Thanks, I think this starts to clear it up. Would love to see what you come up with comparing the two gears. Already have the drive gear on the crank, just need this little sucker for the end of the shaft, which it sounds like is the same piece for 3.2 and 964s. See below for a screenshot from the 964 PET which covers C2/C4 and turbo models. You can see there's no distinct number listed for the gear, but then you have the pinion listed on the next page. ![]() ![]() Whenever you have a chance to compare, post your findings, would be curious to see if theres any difference.

I see where your confusion is about the parts diagram. Illustration 901- 01 covers single plug systems for M30.69 (3.3) and M64.50 (3.6) C2 turbo models.
If you go back 1 frame to 901- 00 you will see the diagram for the twin plug N/A 3.6 and notice there is no part # for the pinion gear. I did some quick comparisons on a few 3.2 and 964/993 dizzy gears and they do in fact appear to be the same. My pics are not that great but notice the difference between the CW dizzy gears (Bottom) and CCW gears (TOP) The Tooth angle is different There are also some length and shaft diameter differences among the gears. Also note that the distributor drive gear on the crank needs to go on in a certain position or the rotor to cap correlation will be off by about 12 degrees. If you want to try a 3.2 gear PM me your email for more info . I also have a few spare roll pins Richard ![]() ![]()

All dimensions being the same across the motors, the crank drives were changed in 84 model year to run CW off the crankshaft. The 3.2 dist.gear was new to run with the tighter crank gear.
Into the 3.6, the cranks are the same with some change in the 993 rods but the drives should be the same across the years. Bruce |
