Thread sealant for cam housing to cylinder head bolts?

Do these bolts get some sort of thread sealant? Bentley does not mention it, but the threads in the head are a through-hole - so the only oil seal is the captured steel washer under the cap screw head.

If you installed the 574 correctly there should be no leakage.

The factory workshop manual does state to apply 574 to the bolt threads.

Well, removing & 574-ing one at a time ought not be too bad.

I’ve never seen sealant on the threads of any factory motor I’ve ever taken apart...

I also found it weird, but i read it during a reassembly on the first 993 engine ive rebuilt just last week. Remember 993s are the only road car engine (that i know of) that use bolts in this area, not studs.
I only sealed the outer bolts as they are through bolts, the inner row are blind holes.

Good picture of the areas to be sealed but missing required sealant around some
of the holes-remember that some of the studs are inside the valve cover and should have sealant as well.
