2.4TE (with MFI) self-build in England
Hello all,
I've had my '72 911 2.4l TE for 22 years. I took out the original engine to do at least valve guides, and replaced the original engine with a like-for-like that I bought as a stop gap. That was 17 years ago.... Don't mention procrastination, I've heard it plenty! So here I am, embarking on the valve guide job, but already have mission creep in the quest for horsepower. I'm almost down to splitting the crankcases. I'm using Wayne Dempsey's book and Bruce Anderson's. I did the Woods & Anderson maintenance course, in 1998, but am now back in the UK. The car is for road use, not track: I want plenty of torque as I may do autosolos also. Current plans for the spec are: new pistons (86.7mm) @ 9.5:1 compression ration, in rebored cylinders (cast iron) = 2.5l new cams: John Dougherty 964-102 grind (with advice from John) MFI pump: recalibrate by Mark Jung 2.4E throttle bodies and velocity stacks (already purchased) Have I got this spec right? Am I correct I can bore out the cylinders to 86.7mm safely? I'm resisting the urge to go to 2.7l for reasons of cost. I'm interested to hear from others who've been down this route and am sure I will be calling for help as I reassemble. I've read plenty of threads on similar specs, but nothing quite as I'm proposing. Many thanks. Dave
