My 1976 2.7 mag case was rebuilt last January 2020 to 2.8. No oil leaks to date.

1975 911 Carrera oil leak. Oil leak is coming from what appears to be a stud? coming out of the lower left rear of the block. Local Porsche repair guy attempted repair but it still leaks. Looks like he simply squirted liquid sealer behind the nut and tightened it. Question? Did he half ass the repair because he might cause MUCH more work if he removed the stud? and properly replace the seals?
Also, I am having a hard time locating the part on any diagram. |

Those of us who work(ed) on these things know exactly which stud you're talking about. It has pressurized oil behind it. He "half assed" the repair because it pulled the threads out of the mag case. To repair it correctly will require complete teardown, splitting the case, and the installation of a time-sert.

Intermediate Stud Pulled
RA,
It sounds like your intermediate shaft stud has pulled/stripped out. John Walker recommends this repair in Intermediate stud pulled. Quote:
