Exploring 2.0 to 2.2 options.

I have a 67s with dc30 cams. All STD. I don't believe the cases have ever been apart. I've had a few goes at the top end and not really happy. Had some issues. I either go the path of 81 mm JE high comp pistons and bore my 80.5 barrels. Or
Go 2.2 liter used barrels and bore and go oversized with JE pistons and get a good set of 2.2 or 2.4 heads and go thru them. ( Or are these getting scarce )
Will it work with my DC 30 cam
Will my new PMO manifolds suit the ports on the above heads ??
Will my existing shead studs suit. ?
Is the extra cost worth it. ?
I have a noise on shutdown that is worrying me. ( See my other post with a video )
Thanks lyndon

One thing worth noting is that 2.2 engines use a different style head gasket, so if you use your 2.0 heads, some machining of either heads or cylinders would be needed.
2.2 heads are considered to have a better combustion chamber than 2.0, but I am not sure if the difference is worth exploring. Perhaps others have experience with that switch.
If I'm not mistaken, intake port sizes for T/E and S are same for 2.0 and 2.2. 32mm for T/E and 36mm for S.

Actually , '67S intake ports are 35mm , so close but not the same . If you are really going with 2.2 , 2.4 or 2.7 heads I am interested in the 2.0 heads . I have 2.2 heads I can include in the purchase .

Whatever you choose , 2.0 or 2.2 liter , have the cylinders bored + .5mm and use Wossner pistons . Their specs indicate the CR as 10 to 1 , but in reality it was close to 9.5 to 1 . I've dissasembled several engines with J$E pistons , I did not like the abnormal wear on the piston skirts . My 2 cents . And yes , the head studs do not change , the PMO manifolds will work with some minor porting by Ollies Engineering & Research Porsche machine shop and the DC 30 cams will work fine .
