Performance cam for stock piston '95 3.6 rebuild?
I'm having a '95 993 3.6 engine rebuilt for a special project car. I don't need the maximum HP, but would like a little more lively response (mid to upper rpm range) and perhaps some added HP if it comes along. I want a more early period looking engine, so will probably switch to ITBs and EFI (yes, visual aesthetics are the motivation for this). Any specific recommendations for a different cam than stock? Other modest changes, ARP, etc.? I'm keeping stock pistons, so I know I have some cam limitations so I don't hit the pistons.

It's your bicycle and you ought to do just those things that you need and not what others say you need. Presently subsequent to having said that that if it's not too much trouble, permit me to perhaps enligten you pretty much all engines. They are just a vacuum apparatus and in the event that you put in a cam that will permit more air into the chamber then you need to have a head that will permit that stream. Assuming you are happy with the force your bicycle has, a cam that is known as a drop in cam will work with your stock motor parts. As an update, I ended up having John Dougherty grind 993 Supersport cams for the engine.

I believe Herr Schimdt is correct.I have also noted a "window licking"
isssue-some trying to break it by wearing face coverings in there cars. |
