Identifying brand of titanium valve
I need to replace a titanium intake valve due to some gouges on the stem. I can’t identify the manufacturer, no markings are evident. A long shot perhaps, but any ideas how I can ID it? The manufacturers of ti valves that I can think of: Del West, Ferrea, Manley?
The valve is 49 mm, 11/32” stem. Thanks for any help! ![]() ![]() |

Any chance that they're cut down chevy valves? The lock/keeper groove appears to be old (pre LS) chevy style, and 11/32" stem is standard sbc size. The chamber side is not a standard Del-West valve. The tip appears to be pressed in hardened steel (should be, Ti is too soft), check with a magnet. If they're cut down chevy valves, the "factory" markings normally near the top of the valve have been cut off.

Thanks dannobe. The tips are magnetic (the rest of the valve isn’t of course), suggesting they weren’t shortened. Length is 4.335” for whatever that’s worth.

Lots of people remove the steel tip and reinstall it after cutting down the stem and drilling the end for the removed steel tip. It's not uncommon. The fact that it still has a chevy valve lock groove and chevy sized stem (11/32") leads me to believe they've been cut.
This would also remove the manufacturer's info, which is nearly always up near the top of the valve, making ID'ing the valve difficult. Small block chevy valves are 4.9" or so long. Plenty of room to cut down to fit other applications. Del-West valves are usually laser etched with their logo on the chamber side, where the recess is in yours. |

Thanks, that's helpful to know how to proceed. My best bet is probably to call the the manufacturers I mentioned in my first post and see which can spec a replacement as close as possible to the one I'm replacing.

You could also try Victory 1. They will custom build to whatever spec you give them.
