Case split shortcuts?

OK, let’s get the humiliating part out of the way. I left off the two sealing rings that should have been placed on the oil pump before joining the case halves. Didn’t realize until no oil pressure at initial startup. Insert favorite cuss word.

So, I have to go all the way back to opening the case. My question is basically what disassembly can I skip. Can I leave the left side cam tower, P&C’s intact. Or what other shortcuts might there be?

Appreciate any suggestions aside from “don’t be such a dumbass”!!

My advice is don’t look for a shortcut, there is none…
Pull the heads, pull the P/Cs, through bolts, flange nuts
Split the case.
Now there are 3 ORing seals, two on the pump and one between the case halves.
Experience tells me to aviation permatex the two on the oil pump because I have knocked them off on putting the second half on. BTDT
sorry, good luck as experience teaches

Remove the heads and cam towers as a unit, cams, rockers in place. O-ring seal under the pump, too.

It sucks, but we’ve all been there. Good luck resolving the issue.

Keep the top end together don’t split the heads from the towers leave rockers installed. Don’t pull the pistons all the way from the cylinders leave the rings compressed.

Thanks all. Turns out the seals WERE in place. It was a temporary plug blocking oil flow. Problem resolved and no need to split case. But good info from your replies nonetheless.

So Chuck, where was the "temporary plug" that was causing the issue?
Wondering if it was external to the case?

It was just a shop rag that I had inserted into the tube. Somehow missed it.

Lucky you. Same thing happened to a mate. He didn't see the oil light until too late and it was curtains for his engine.
