fuel injection pump

Hello!

I am in the process of renovating the fuel injection pump for my 911E-69.

Does anyone know what function this part has? I would like to unscrew it and electroplate it, but is it safe to do so...?

/Tomas

This part is an altitude compensator. It adjusts the mixture based on pressure differentials.

The most common way this part is damaged is by carrying the pump by this part.

:-)

Do you think it's sensitive to disassemble it and give it a new surface treatment?

It is easily removed. The distance the pin protrudes into the pump is critical and that distance is adjusted by shims. Keep track of the shims to maintain the existing adjustment.
Painting it is OK. Do not powder coat, or sand blast.
