Rasant Cam/Crank Sensor Assembly

I have a Rasant Products Cam/Crank Sensor with about 5k miles on it. It has developed a ticking noise that I am having trouble diagnosing. I have taken the cap off a couple of times now only to find a bearing surrounded plane shaft that has a disk bolted to the top with a magnet on it (no place to tick/rattle). At the other end is the brass gear. The only thing that comes to mind is that the bearings could be loose/failing causing this ticking noise. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions?
