There’s not many Porsche’s more iconic than a black 930.

Yeah, Mark suggested bubble wrap. I used bubble wrap for 914 calipers before but I had none available and had a ton of boxes available for free. The 930 calipers are huge. They are 11 inches long (w/o the connecting pipe) and the large flat rate boxes are 12 in leaving just 1/2 inch on either side. That's why I did 2 boxes at diagonals.

Also had to remove the short connecting pipe between the caliper halves. I couldn't place the caliper in the box w/o the pipe hitting the box.

BTW, according to USPS tracking all calipers arrived at PMB but they were closed on Sat so will be delivered on Monday.

My other thought is the free USPS boxes make great packaging that can be placed to cushion the item being shipped.

My other thought is to use USPS Boxes internally of the outside box as packing.

Mine looked very much like this.

Calipers are in shipping back to me.

Got the drive shafts removed. Will be cleaning out the CVs, repack and replace the boots. Plan to swap the shafts from right to left.

Haven't made much progress because of work on Mega Pond. I had to get this pond in so I could turn on the pond pump and get the water cleaned. Smelled like a sewer when I first got the pump running. Will have more time now to work on the 930.

The transmission is all together now except for the differential. Looks fantastic.

930 Air Flow Meter Unit………..

Jerry,

You dropped off your 930 AFM unit 3 months ago and did not leave any address or telephone # to contact you. I found the problem and fixed it 2 weeks later. Do you want me to send the AFM to Mark Epstein or you will pick it up? The service is FREE but I will charge you for STORAGE fee. You owe me a cup of black coffee from Dunkin Donuts no cream.

Tony

Tony, you drive a hard bargain. I will comply with your storage fee. I can stop by to pick up the AFM. I feel bad about not going to lunch with you that day which was also your birthday. My car's battery dumped and I barely made it home. I drove straight to the dealer and let them take care of it. So I owe you a cup of black coffee and a lunch. :)

The calipers are back from PMB. They look fantastic. Looks like they are new from the factory.

The car is being moved from the lift so the 914 can get ready for a few road trips.

The long block is assembled.

The p/c are 98mm. The displacement is 3.4L.

Since the distributor push/pull vacuum can is leaky and NLA, we're thinking about a crankfire system with coil overs.

Pulled the driver side rear hub off to install new bearings. Used a Dremel tool to remove the inner bearing race from the hub.

I couldn't get the hard brake line off the flexible line. Waiting on flare nut wrench to remove this.

Should I use heat on this fitting to remove it. It just won't budge. The other fitting to the chassic came right off no issues.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1757296085.jpg

Started disassembly of the drive shafts to repack the CVs and flip them.

Turns out the half shafts are remans from CVJ Axles in Denver. I thought the boots look in great shape for nearly 40 year old boots. I don't have any info on when the half shafts were installed.
