2024 list of trustworthy machine shops ?

In the past I have used Ollie's with good results but the time to complete work is typically very long. Can anyone recommend other trustworthy machine shops with air-cooled Porsche machining experience?

What do you need done? I know cgarr here on the forum Craig does head work et and is reasonable and does good work.

And where are you located.

Let me bust your chops a little to put your location in your profile so that we don't have to ask. Your car model and year too. SmileWavy

I used a local machine shop for my rods back in the day and "cgarr" for my heads (highly recommend cgarr!!!).

Later, Millenium going through EBS Racing handled replating of the Nikasil I destroyed by accident on the cylinders.

It seems like those of us who have in the biz for a long time are feeling the effects
of others retiring. I was up to sixteen engines behind here for a while.

I was happy with the work I had done by Xtreme Cylinder heads. It was not fast or cheap but the finished product was beautiful, ports and chamber all CNC machined.

Craig (cgarr) at G2 in Grand Rapids, MI just rebuilt my heads, rocker arms and cam towers at a competitive price and a 4 week turn around. The heads look great - new valves, guides, and springs (I provided) plus ported and polished to S-spec.

Millennium Technologies in Plymouth, WI does nickel silicon carbide plating for LN Engineering's (Momence, IL) Nickies cylinders plus others. I have been waiting 10 weeks so far for plating on my new cylinders - backlog at Millennium.

I just got my heads back from Anchor Atlantic in NJ. I basically sent them bare heads that needed some of the exhaust stud holes repaired (timeserted). I was quoted $2400-$2600 after providing them detailed pictures of my heads. Heads came back about a month later, looks beautiful, deck height set, numbered for each side, bill was $3600!. This is for a complete rebuild. New valve seats, new valve guides, new valves, new springs-keepers-retainers etc, with the spring height shimmed etc and around 5 or 6 of the exhaust studs getting timeserted.

One of the heads was in bad shape at the exhaust stud location, so I'm wondering if the head was replaced with a better one, even though all the cast date codes still match.

1971 911 T heads
