It's really not fair to selectively pick on the foibles of any particular engine. I can do the same for any engine used in a 911 that you care to name. I also sensed that $, hassle factor(plug & play), and not ultimate power were the selection criteria.

Regardless of what engine, I would probably freshen up at least the top end while it was apart. Aftermarket items like Motec, or any other engine management system you care to use are not for the casual less knowledgeable end user. IMNSHO

If $ and hassle factor (plug and play) are priorities, and not ultimate power, than isn't a 3.0 over a 3.2 is the correct decision.

1. No transmission notching.

2. 3.0 utilizes readily-available early exhaust better than a 3.2.

3. Less detectable when going through the "visuals" of a smog test. Make that, undetectable, provided serial numbers aren't read or known.

Those are just three examples that come to mind not directly related to the engine itself, but to "transplanting" the engine.

1) takes 10min max
2)exhasts are interchangeable thru '94(including ssi)
3)could be an issue (I don't care about it but I do forget that others aren't so lucky)

Bosch DME is so much better than CIS that they shouldn't be mentioned together.

As w/ MFI there are proponents of CIS but the newer the system the more flexible and reliable it will be. I have owned and had to live w/ and tune all 3, DME is hands down best!!
