Alternator housing and fan options
The housing and fan for my 79 SC engine have seen better days the housing has several cracks and fan blades chips it doesn’t look like there are any options for the stock size 226mm replacement. What are you using for aftermarket quality parts to replace original.

Stay Away From DR911 on eBay and Other Sites
Sorry for the long winded response.
I’m speaking on both Fan and Shroud. The EPS brand is made of aluminum rather than magnesium. Which is ok, but i found the quality was not to my standard. Marked as “Made in USA” but come on, the finish is not very good. I purchased from our host and returned no problems. If you want a new Porsche part, yes they still make them, I found their quality pretty bad. Bumpy and pitting in the areas well seen when viewing the engine. Very disappointing. By comparison to the ones made during the production years are great, all new production that i have seen lately is just crap. Maybe I bought a Chinese knockoff from dr911 on ebay, or maybe, if it was a real Porsche part, the had a bad day at the foundry. Maybe this one was overlooked by their quality control. I say stick with a good used one. By the way, the part numbers are very squirrely. Casting says one thing, but parts inventory and data says different. (???) Stay away from dr911 on ebay. I bought supposedly new Porsche parts, fan and shroud, and found the quality very poor as stated above. When I sent pictures to him about the quality, he says he personally inspected them and they are not the ones he sent me. Pretty hard to inspect through a sealed box and sealed clamshell styrofoam packaging and no evidence of it being retaped. I sent them back and he accused me of sending him back old spray painted parts. He slandered me on ebay comments. Refunded me 1/2 of what I paid. Ebay quickly made up the difference in a 10 minute call. I think what hung him was stating it fit my ‘83, but it was for a ‘84 which has a longer alternator. I could have purchased a 10mm spacer and it would have worked. If you care about the surface finish, I recommend filling any pitting on the fan and visible areas on the shroud with body filler. I painted mine with Cerakote (Satin Magnesium). Spray a bit dry on the items, it tends to run. Also, if you do it yourself, place clean stainless steel nuts in the paint bottle and shake and shake and then some more before adding to paint cup. This was suggested by Cerakote on the phone. Any stock late 911 fan can be trimmed to fit the 226 fan housing. That said I should have a couple of nice ones in stock. Those small housings are getting rare. WE have had pretty good luck having Ben McFarlan [mbconsulting21@gmail.com] weld these mag housing over the years. Great guy, good for the Porsche community. As for the after market housings, most of the ones I've seen are made of aluminum [as apposed to magnesium] and are pretty nice.

That looks better than what I’ve found. Price is better than I bought on eBay from dr911.
