Question for Wayne - sealing case

Wayne, your book instructs to put the case sealant on the left half of case that has all the studs. Seems to me that spreading on the other w/o studs would be easier.....

Possibly. However, that side of the case is not mounted firmly and conveniently in your engine stand. Also, if you apply the sealant to the case half with the crank already installed, you have less of a chance of smearing it on other components when you mate the case. That's not a huge deal as the sealant gets washed away by oil.

Either way, I just find it easier to apply the sealant to the case side that is installed in the engine stand.
