3.2 carrera 87 cylinder boring with aftermarket cylinders

I’m wanting to rebore my 87 3.2 cylinders with some new aftermarket pistons.can anyone recommend who I can ship my cylinders off to. I just want to up to a 3.3, nothing crazy.

I send my cores to EBS engine builder supply and they send me bored and plated cylinders. Pretty easy.

I know a few years ago there were a high number of plating failures on cylinders that had been replated. Has anyone had failures recently?

The issue with EBS (Millennium) was surface finish. Mahle specs 3-5 RA and Millennium was honing to 15+/-3. Nikasil plating is extremely hard and the rough surface would scratch the rings, leading to high oil consumption. This was solved a few years back and I haven't heard of any issues since then.

I bought pistons from Millennium and they sized the bores to the pistons. However, pricing for this service has increased over the years and isn't as as favorable compared to a new P&C set from Mahle nowadays. Can't hurt to quote it though.

I had a set done by Millennium about a year ago. Price was $2400 for 6 cylinders. I specified the RA I wanted the cylinders finished to.

$2400 plus pistons, wrist pins, rings, etc or just buy a new Mahle P&C set for $4500 (PN #PS98-010)

i was looking for 1 cylinder to replace one that came back from Millennium with porosities. So I tried with EBS and they could not deliver any finer than Ra15

The math is even easier when you can get the set for $3700 from TH MS... google is your friend.

I saw some less expensive options on google but wanted to quote a price from a retailer I knew was legit.

I ordered a set from them, no problems. Not sure how but they have crazy low prices on Mahle parts....

$1300 cheaper than Pelican sells them for seemed too good to be true. Thanks for the heads up. I normally try to purchase parts from our host (and fellow Pelicans), but that's a ridiculous savings.

Pelican has a very high markup on mahle cylinders. I think we figured out that we can sell them for $1k less and still make a decent margin.
