Re-Using #8 Nose Bearing
Curious: when rebuilding your engines, do you always replace the nose bearing?
If so, do you ONLY use the gen porsche or do you use the OEM aftermarket versions? If you re-use it, have you ever had any issues?

Number 8 main bearings are a low ticket item considering the overall cost of a rebuild.
That said, I like the factory bearing in that application. Now, like most parts, you can check it for wear. They have a coating on the bearing surface and if there is abnormal wear you can usually see it.

Like most parts, if they are in spec and in good condition they can be re-use. I have reused #8 bearings that were in spec. You can find all the dimension in the little spec books.
