Hi All,
I have a 1974 911 with the throttle control pressure regulator (TCPR). My goal is to get the car back to it's original CIS configuration. I can't tell if I need Bosch part 0438.140.001 or 0438.140.008. Jim's CIS Primer for the 911 says: DATES: 8.73 - 2.74 used 0 438 140 001 (in combination with TCPR) DATES: 2.74 - 7.74 used 0 438 140 008 (in combination with TCPR) Not sure DATES: 7.74 to 12/74 as it's not listed Since both configurations 001 and 008 have all of the same CIS components (unless I'm missing something), is it safe to say 438 140 008 superseded 0 438 140 001 and that both would be appropriate configurations - just one is earlier and one is later? Would one perform better on my car? 0438.140.001 versus 0438.140.008 appear to me to be similar from the outside but have different cold control pressure diagrams but should test at the same same warm control pressure. When comparing the two, the colder end of the cold control pressure looks like it got richer in 008 (lower pressure per degree) before the system turns warm and gets to the same warm control pressure. Any help of guidance would be greatly appreciated! ![]() |

You should use the 008.
The 001 came out on the 2.4l 73.5, and was superseded to the 008 early in the 74 production. The vacuum controlled 009 was introduced to eliminate the TCPR, approximately late '75. The 129 was introduced at some point as a replacement for the 008. The shop manual control pressures are with the TCPR in 3 different positions. Adjust pressure by loosening the screws and rotating up and down. ![]()

Same as Sully said. Either one will work, but the later one probably gives a little easier cold starting, because it is richer when cold.
