2.2 rods - heavier side nearer the flywheel?

There's an error in my Dempsey "how to rebuild..."

It says the rods are symmetrical but that's not true. There's a heavier side and a lighter side. You can see here the shoulder is taller on the right hand side of the rod.

They're all like this but sometimes the heavier side is on the right when you have the numbers facing up, and on others it's on the left.

Dempsey says simply orientate the rods with all the numbers faving up or all facing down, as long as they're all the same. But this will mean a random arrangement of the larger shoulders. What gives?

Your appreciation for minutia is commendable but what do you believe this specific casting anomaly will create? Aren't you the guy who tried to take 10 grams off of a 911 rod?
