Case through bolts: torque dry or wet?
I have the Bentley Manual and Wayne’s book, and there is no mention of lubricating the threads of the case through bolts prior to torquing them. But I have watched some seasoned Porsche engine builders lubricating these threads prior to torquing….
Searched the forum and found nothing regarding this, other then you should not use any product on threads unless the manual calls for it. Increasing the clamping force can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon a host of variables…. I am curious what other builders are practicing. Thanks, Dave

We always coat the green o-rings with Dow 55 and coat the threads with Supertec assembly lube. Any high quality assembly lube will work.

If you don't use something on them, you'll get the squeaking and cracking noises that'll make you question anything about proper torque. Listen to Henry.

Not to toot my own horn....but, who else has their own assembly lube....
It's not for sale but we do some goofy stuff. I designed the products based on an additive gleaned from the SkunkWorks (FOIA) and the engineer who mixed it for us died taking the formula to his grave. We'll use what we have left and then poof....it's gone. ![]()
