latest on 3.0
Got my cylinders installed last night.
![]() ![]() Spent a few evenings cleaning up the pistons. Soaked them in PB blaster, then the carbon scraped right off. Used a scotch brite pad to finish them off. They were just black before. On to the heads!

John,
I just noticed from your images that you dont have your ground wire for the alternator on. Just thought I should mention it. |

Hadn't forgotten it. I had it off while I was making a duplicate to repair a customers car.
thanks for the heads up though.

John - Which technique did you use? pistons on first, then cylinders or insert pistons in cylinders and then on rods??

Since these are used pistons and cylinders, I cleaned the carbon off the pistons, installed them in the cylinders, then onto the rods.

Hey John,
Where did you find those handy cylinder retainers? I need a set of 'em. Did you have any trouble with the through-bolt seals? I've heard those are fiddly.

The cylinder retainers are available at your local Sears store, 1/2" drive, standard depth sockets and 10mm nuts.
![]() The through bolt seals weren't bad, just followed Waynes instructions in the book, a little sealant, the o ring, a little more sealant, then install. Far as I know so far, they are sealed well.

Thanks guys, I'm almost done painting the cylinder tin, so I'll be back to work on it this week.
