Are the wavy washers the best?

Where wavy washers come off the engine on some studs, should they be replaced with new each time? Are they the best? I know a lock washer against an aluminum or mag case is not the proper use of that kind of washer. So, is there something better?

The steel wave washers should be good for a long time. I'd reuse them.

OR use nylocks. But on the inside, I still choose to use wave washers. No good reason, just because.
