GT2 sealing rings?
Is there such a thing as a sealing ring, on the GT2 993 cars, which goes between the head surface and the cylinder? I believe the head and cylinder are both grooved and the ring is crushed between the two into the groove.
The factory sealed the 3.6 motors begining with the (later models) 964 using a groove in the cylinder but I don't know if the head was grooved or not.

I don't know about the GT2, but for a 993,993tt, 993RS or 993RSR
the cylinders are grooved as pictured on these 102mm RSRs used on my engine ![]() From the shop manual ![]()

thanks Bill.
Is the head also grooved?(oops I see in the section of the head that it has no groove) Is the ring crushed when the head is torqued? Is the ring aluminum or copper? Alot of detailed questions..I know. I'm ready to send the heads etc to the shop so I need to decide on a sealing method. A flat surface against another flat surface does'nt inspire confidence. I'd rather see an O-ring of some sort (turbo application).
