Wayne - Teflon Tape?
First let me say, your book is excellent. I received it last week and I have read it cover to cover (once so far). (I don't feel any better about re-building a 2.7 now, but at least I know it will be assembled properly)
I was somewhat suprised to see that you recommend using teflon tape on the oil pressure switch. Given the importance of keeping dirt and lint out of the engine the last thing you want in there is a piece of teflon tape, it could easily plug an oil squirter. On large hydraulic sytems teflon tape is generally a no-no, it plugs small holes and clogs filters, I would have thought the same the same would be true on an engine. A teflon sealant (in paste form) would be far safer. Just something for you to consider. 224 pages, and only one point I disagreed with.

I agree. Teflon tape is for plumbers.
I use a liquid teflon thread sealant made by 3-Bond.

While Carroll Smith suggests teflon in tape or paste form in Engineer to Win, He also recommends Loctite PST in another book. Loctite also makes several other teflon-based paste sealants.

To each their own - there are lots of opinions on many different subjects. The tape helps to seal this tapered connection.

No doubt about the seal, it just seems needlessly risky.
