removing dilavar studs
Sucess!
I removed all 12 dilavar studs from my 3.0 case. I used a Map gas torch I bought for removing the exhast studs a long time ago. It is the type that uses oxygen canisters. It worked really well. I used a double nut on top of the stud and a long breaker bar with socket. I put the torch against the spigot across from the stud. It took an average of 5 min for the stud to turn with moderate force. Some of the studs came out without heating directly, I guess just from the overall heat. I was very careful not leave the flame in one place. It was probably more expensive than propane. It took 1.5 oxygen cans. |
