Leak down test help needed...

Hi,
Hope this question is not too stupid...

Am trying to do a leakdown on my car but I couldn't locate the "Z" mark on the pulley / crank.

Mine has 4 notches on it. 3 of them looks to be 120 degree apart. The 4th one is very close to one of the other notches. So - where I have the 2 closer notches should be the one to set cylinder 1/4 to TDC? But which notch should I use as reference?

thanks...

It's Z1 and you won't find it on the later pulleys. At least I can't find it on my '86. Anyway, find the two marks about 3/4" apart. The one on the left is your Z1. On TDC your rotor should also be pointing to the #1 cylinder notch on the distributor. Make sure your engine is warmed up when you do the leak down test. The other marks are each set at 120 degrees. After you test #1, turn the pulley 120 degrees to the next mark and check the next cylinder in the same order as the firing order.

Thanks for the reply Kurt - exactly what I was looking for.

Wrt notch on the distributor, there should only be one & it should be obvious (since I haven't opened it up yet).

The only problem is that I won't be able to warm up the engine. Its sitting on the stand already as we speak. Should have done the test before I take it out, but timing
