Tensioner upgrade question

I am installing the chain tensioner upgrade as I am putting my 71E 2.2 engine back together. How do I finish out the right side
oil line at the case?? I ordered the hose mod for the early engine but it came open ended on the case end and no instructions.
HELP!!!

typical. you need to order the ferrule (crush ring), and use the nut from the old line. cut the line with a hacksaw to save the nut. i don't know why they sell the line with no hardware. useless.

Does the line end in a metal tube and if it was finished with a ferrule and nut would it be long enough? If yes to both then you likely only need a new nut and ferrule; Pelican Part Numbers: N-020-825-1 and I-104-003-02. See:

Very frustrating! I had to search low and high one afternoon to find the proper metric ferrule...........finally found one at a truck fuel injection place.

Sometimes they show up with the end on it, and sometimes they don't - no rhyme or reason...

Why do you sell them without the nut and ferrule and no instructions??Their useless!!

Wanna know what's even worse? Then you actually GET the ferrule and you end up with one that's a few mm too long. Then the nut can't quite make it to the case adapter. But YOU didn't know you had the wrong ferrule, so you just keep trying various ghetto methods of trying to make it work, until you end up destroying another thirty bucks worth of parts.

It'd be nice if PP could inspect their receipts of these lines, and drop a ferrule and nut into the bag if they are lacking. This issue cost me hours and $$$.

I will look into this issue. In general, my warehouse workers don't have the knowledge or experience to figure out that the parts have changed from our supplier.

Ok, put these instructions with each order on a pre 74 car.
Use the original left side new hose(it comes with the kit) and cut with a hacksaw just above the nut, remove the nut and drive off the ferrule. Install the nut and ferrule on the hose mod. and install.
This worked for me.

I'm not sure that ferrule is a multiple-use affair. It bites the line the first time from the pressure of the special nut forcing it into the compression fitting. I'd be wary of its ability to both bite and seal a second time. But I'm a newb. John, would you reuse a ferrule?

It's a brand new ferrule off of the unused new line that comes in the update kit for post 74 cars.
