930/18 engine

Do you have any info on this engine...also, what the serial numbers were? I just looked at an apparently SC engine clearly marked 930/18 which apparently was some sort of special 83 or 84 engine, yet the serial number appears to be that of an 81 SC? Not much in my book regarding this. Anyone?

Hmm, 1983 911SCRS factory race engine. Only 20 or so of these cars were ever made (see Excellence Was Expected for full details).

This would be a *real* find if this was truly the case. Does this engine have the Mechanical Fuel Injection on it? I don't think these engines had special serial numbers...

No, it is a fresh rebuild with supposedly '78/'79 heads and CIS. Guess the case was the same as the '81?

Maybe just a really crappy marked 930/16?

Could be. Doesn't seem likely that it is an 18, but it sure looks like an 18 in person. I had to reduce the resolution down on the picture a great deal to post here. I would assume the 6 would be like the 9 only upside down. I wish I knew a way to track down which serial numbers were used in the SCRS. Oh well. I guess since both cases are the same, it really does not make a difference without the rest of the engine. Here is another view
