engine value
This is not a rebuild wuery so I hope it is OK here:
Any ideas on what a 2.7L engine is worth? It has SSIs, and all the right work to stregthen the internals has been done (Raceware, and documented with service receipts). It is known to run well (witnesses) and a full electronic test was done on a Sun machine right before it was removed from the car (owner is moving to a 3.2). |

Randy,
One way to look at it: A used 3.0 or 3.2 engine in ok shape can be had for $4-6k. I doubt someone would pay that much for a 2.7 since they do have thier reputation and lack the "bulletproof" perception.

I concur with Harry above; the 2.7s have a certain 'ceiling' associated with them due to the pricing of 3.0, 3.2, and 3.6 pricing...there is little overlap in pricing. Seems like 3-5 for a good 3.0, 4.5-6.5 for a good 3.2, and 6.5+ for a 3.6. I'd probably not give much more than $2.5 for a bulletproof 2.7, but I've seen them approach $3k on eBay.
