Fuel Line Replacement
I have a 72T that sat garaged for ten years. I have pulled and etched the gas tank. Now I am going to replace the fuel lines. What what lines and where are they is my next question. Which ones are metal and which ones are rubber. From what I can see, there are several sections.
1) short hose from tank to tunnel line connector. 2) tunnel 3) tunnel connector to fuel filter (with a fuel pump in there somewhere) 4) fuel filter to engine and return. What size do I use (OD/ID) with each section and is the tunnel line metal and need replacing? Any general help would be really appreciated as I am Mr. amateur mechanic. Thanks Y'all Ron |

Sorry I have nothing of value to contribute to this post but to say good to see others from Oklahoma showing up here (I'm in Tulsa from Dallas).
I would say though that many on this board have found the original Porche parts related to the fuel lines are highly overpriced and saved a lot of $ by having them remade using the existing fittings and metal parts.

Okie, I know you are new here, but learning to use the "search" button and checking out the parts diagrams on the home page will result in a wealth of information on this subject. The only metal lines will be in the tunnel and if you don't smell any gas they are probably ok. As for sizes, Early S Man, the guru of all things Porsche states: "You will need four sizes of OEM German hose -- 9 mm ID ... supply line to electric pump, 7 mm ID ... pressure line to filter assembly - etc., 4.5 mm ID ... cold start system, 3 mm ID ... vacuum hose to distributor. Be very, very, VERY CAREFUL replacing the cold-start hose ... the nozzles are plastic and glued into the injection stacks, and no replacements are available! Cut the crimp rings carefully, and don't put any stress on the barbed plastic end when removing the old hose pieces! Engine fires have resulted from old, cracked cold-start lines ... thus the reason for replacing them should be obvious!"
Here are two threads to help you on your journey of discovery: Intro and 911T Targa--could use suggestions MFI fuel delivery issue And a couple of diagrams: ![]() ![]() Hope this helps.
