Trying to Time Cams, What the Hell Did I Order?
My screw up, I should have checked the tools I got in instead of completely relying on the rebuild Wizard. With the Wizard set to the 3.2 Carrera when you check the box for the Z block for the dial indicator it doesn't load the part number for the Z block (P207). What it does load is P240 which is listed as a dial gauge holder and looks like this:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...older_P240.JPG Question abput the photo below, is the extension that comes with the Z block screwed onto the shaft of the dial indicator to make the shaft long enough to reach the valve stem collar? If not, there is no way the dial indicator that I received is going to have a long enough shaft to reach the valve collar. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...older_P207.JPG |
The bottom pic is the Z-block you need. I don't recall whether the dial indicator extension is needed, but probably. My dial indicator came with the extension.

anyway, the extension is required.

Hmm, I'll have to check that out. You don't always need the extension if you have a universal gauge holder and some ingenuity. See 101 Projects (cam timing) for a picture...
