Strainer cover.
The powderpainters painted both sides of my strainer cover. I asked them not to, but they couldn't resist. I imagine I can't install it now unless I remove the coating. Am I right?
They also bead blasted the inside of my valve covers. This could only mean truing the sealing surfaces up again on some glass, right? There is nothing quite like powdercoat. Anyone know how to remove it in spots? Woof |

In general, it's not good practice to put anything painted inside the engine, however, I think that powdercoating might be okay, considering it's durability. I'm not a powdercoating specialist, so I don't really know for sure.
Blasting both sides of your valve covers shouldn't make a noticeable difference - they are often warped and not true when new... -Wayne

I would not put that sump cover on. If you said not to paint both sides, bring it back. Have them bead blast the inside. Done!
I doubt that blasting the inside of the valvecovers will change the overall topology of the sealing surfaces. The beads are very tame. All you should get is a rougher surface on the small scale. I wouldn't worry about it. Just get all the beads out. ![]() George |

I removed that powder paint with my wire wheel and some fancy Dremel flap sander left over from the boattail job. The exterior and the rim look so "tight" on the case. I had to go to Lowes and get some stainless steel nuts and new wave washers. They had em.
Gotta save up for that engine cradle now. Woof.

Oh yeah- the stuff was really hard to get off. I'll bet It would have been fine to leave it on but, I just don't want to risk it.
