HELP! Rebuilt rockers are different!
My clutch job has slipped into a change to SC cams for my Turbo. I got some rebuilt rocker arms from Ollies and noticed as I began to exchange adjusters that the rocker at the adjusters is different. They are not quite as beefy looking as the casting is different. Is this a problem? Thanks guys.
Stock turbo arm is on the left. ![]() |

Hi Mike:
Just different generations of the same parts. Not to worry unless you spin it to 7700 and up,..... ![]()

Are those the SC330 cams you are upgrading to?
If so make sure to report back on the results since I am putting a set in my own turbo. |

No they're just SC cams. I'm just trying to bolster my low end for daily driving and canyon running. How's the rebuild coming along?

I'm still about $2K short of purchasing my remaining required goodies.
Unfortunately other expenses have been cutting into the porsche budget lately. |

I bought new rockers for my rebuild. They were much lighter than the stock ones. I think I read somewhere that the theory is that if there happens to be contact between the piston and the valves the new rockers were made to be the weakest link. Much better a rocker break than any other dammage you can think of.

William,
Do you know how much lighter the new rockers are? Could be a distinct advantage when spinning the engine near 7000 rpm. Any pics for comparison? Sherwood |

If I'm not mistaken that's what you are seeing above. It looks like the same material and finish to me just less of it.
