Crankcase Stud Help Please ...
Somehow I managed to bend a crackcase stud using the wrench method to lock the flywheel (PP was removed). This was my first dumb garage thing of the year but fortunately I was able to remove it easily.
When looking at the engine on the stand the specific stud is the lower right (ie, diagonal from the starter and opposite the yoke). Unless I missed something in the parts manual diagram the part # should be 99906219202 which is listed as a M10 x 102 stud. Unfortunately as the picture shows this new stud is much longer then the one I pulled out. After eyeballing it and measuring it against the bell housing I don't see how this is the right part. Can someone please confirm the part # and the length (ie., should the 102 correspond to 102 mm) or let me know what I'm overlooking? Much thanks! ![]()

I believe the bottom two E/T studs should be 69mm. These stud are only 105mm for a sporto tranny. I believe the correct part number is 99906103402. Here is a link:

Thanks JG but 69 mm doesn't even look like it would come to the beginning of the threads on the one I pulled out.
Using the bent one as a reference it almost looks like it should be around 90 mm. Is anything available in that length?

There must be a problem with the data base or the part number . . . I just went to the garage and the lower studs measure 90 mm and there is no room to spare. If the stud was longer, you couldn't thread the nut on stud because it would be too close to the tranny case.

If you have any luck successfully ordering this stud, let me know. My wrench and I wasted a week and lots of money trying to get those studs. The one I gave up on was the one below the starter. We threw in the towel and made a new stud out of a really long grade 8.8 bolt. Forming threads on a big grade 8.8 shank is a challenge!

I think 69mm refers to the length of the exposed stud, not the total length of the part. I just went out and measured them on my spare engine, and both were exactly 69mm to the transmission mounting surface. Also, look at the stud you bought. The spec is 102mm, but it looks to be about 123mm. I think the correct part is actually around 90mm. Every parts book I have seems to call out the same part number, so I am confident the number is correct.

Now that is absolutely amazing . . . and stupid at the same time. I just measured the length of the exposed stud in question as I just happen to have my tranny off, and low and behold . . . 70mm.
The extra in the misc box measures 90mm overall . . . . . go figure.

If I got the right part from the diagram #8 the PORSCHE PET says that this is the correct part #99906209902

I'll stand by my original answer, the part number you need is 999.061.034.02. The 105mm stud called out in the parts book is for the sportomatic transmission, and the 69mm is for the standard tranmission. It's shorter stud in diagram above without a reference number. It's only $7.25, anyway.

Damn, amazing what a picture tells you if you look at it differently
![]() Thanks to JP I now have a better understanding of crankcase stud measurements. Definately a weird way of doing it in my opinion but I guess once you understand it does makes sense. Thanks for all the help fellas.

McMaster-Carr has metric studs too.
I checked the listing....100mm long with 30mm threads on the ends would come out to 70mm showing....a couple of bucks each. Just a thought...in case you cannot get the Porsche ones. Bob
