Final Stages: 2 Urgent Questions
OK, it is 1am here and I'm just now coming in from the garage so please bear with me ...
In putting my engine back together I realize there are 2 key digital pictures I forgot to take: 1) the wires connected to the starter 2) the spring on the accelerator linkage Can somebody please verify which wires go to which post on the starter (mine has 3: large red, yellow and yellow/blue). Can somebody please post a picture or describe where the other end of the spring on the accelerator linkage is connected under the CIS? I know one end goes to the plate/linkage but I can't see where the other end goes. Car is an '81 3.0l SC. I'm going to search the archives tomorrow but I just don't have the energy to do so now. TIA. |
Doug,
Here is a pic of my throtle linkage and spring. I'm not sure if its the same since my car is a '78SC. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1075452332.jpg |
I don't have a picture, but you should have markings on the posts...
1. Red goes to b+ 2. Blue goes to d+ Someone else should post the yellow, I can't remember just now... |
I'm 99% sure there's a pic of the starter with cables attached in the engine drop chapter of 101 projects. Also probably in the engine drop article on this site...

I think my starter wires have two different diameter wire lugs and bolts, so they are hard to put on backwards.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.
I'll check on the starter pics but here's the spring I was referring to: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1075516718.jpg BTW, this picture is from the disassembly and not after all my hard work :) I've got a clearer head now so I'm going out to take another look ... |
For that last spring look for an anchorage eye (hole) on a tab on one of the intake runners. Cheers, Jim
|
My 82 does not have that spring at all. There is the hole on the linkage, but nothing on the intake runners nearby.
Do all engines have it, and is it critical? I have never noticed any problems with only the spring on the TB itself. Does anyone have a picture of where the other end connects? Olivier |
