Weber manifold crack/vacuum advice 911S 67
I have cracking on my manifold. After blaslting.
Do I lightly dremel and epoxy or get them welded and risk warping. They will be etched and 2K coated. Also I have no vacuum ports. MSD ign pointless and I have a vacuum port on the distribuator. Both carbs are blocked. Do I need to address this before assembly. Thanks Lyndon ![]() Last edited by Lyndon302; 08-26-2019 at 10:59 PM.. |

IMHO, you have a lot to address there. Carb vacuum port is required for the distributor and needs fixed. I've never seen cracked manifolds like that. I wonder if someone tried to bore out normal 911 manifolds to S diameter. Lastly, that carb looks like it needs taken apart and completely rebuilt. The roller on the acceleration enrichment cam is probably frozen, given the rust on it.
Good luck. |

I would get the manifolds welded. However, there are new and used manifolds available.
PMO has new manifolds. You can flatten the base of the manifold with sandpaper on a flat surface, IF it warps during welding, which, I doubt will happen. Normally Webers don't run with a vacuum distributor. You should ask the manufacturer to detail the installation with a Weber setup. Were you running those carbs, or is this a new to you setup?

Its a car I bought that has been sitting for 20 years. I'm getting it ready to see if it runs.
So this car does not run a vacuum line to the dist. ??? My engine is a 67S Thanks for the info. Lyndon |

Try to find another set. They need to be welded, but if you send them to Ollies for welding, you will have large weld beads on the outside of the runners.
People who value 67S don't do it because of big horsepower, they do it for originality. Fortunately for you, these are the second style manifolds, which you should be able to source.

Thanks. I will get them repaired to get it running and look around for a good set. They are probably off the 68 engine that was in the car.

I would 2 part epoxy the cracks and drill a hole and epoxy in a vacuum port

I believe the 67S does not need the vacuum advance. ???
Lyndon Plus the port would be in the carbs not the inlet manifold.?? Last edited by Lyndon302; 09-05-2019 at 04:41 AM.. |

Vacuum ports are on the port side of the throttle butterfly, and typically are in the manifold - that's where the vacuum is.
