Cam Thrust Plate Removal
Guys,
Trying to get the cam thrust plate removed. Wayne's book says O ring is there and will offer "some resistance" but I can't seem to be able to pry this d*mn thing off. Any help will be appreciated.

It offers lots of resistance. I use the cam itself to pop the thrust plate off. You can screw an old sprocket to the cam and then carefully pry under the sprocket. Cam and thrust plate should start coming out.
The above assumes all the rockers are off!

You can also push it out from behind if you have long, skinny fingers.

Thanks guys. Wayne's book is getting a little dirty, but I started removing the heads and it loosened up the part up allowing it to come right out. Thanks again.

you can see the back side of the plate where it seals to the cam tower. pop it out with a screwdriver by levering it off the cam tower. don't force anything between the tower and the plate, just pry against the exposed flat part.

I use a pick that I inserted inbetween the plate and the housing, into the old seal...
