3.2 to Supercharge or .....

I am contemplatating an upgrade to my 89 3.2L. I already own a whipple S/C i used to have on a small block chevy. I was thinking of upgrading to a TEC3 management and mounting the blower on my engine. I would add the knock sensors and run around 8psi of boost. Although, I could up the boost, I just don't know how sturdy my engine is, since it was used before I got it. This set up should add around 80hp and cost about $6K. Does this seem reasonable hp for the cash.
Keep in mind if I were to go to a 3.6, I have the hp bug and a whipple s/c sitting in a box. So would be looking at the 3.6 and wondering about puttin the blower on it.---I am obsessed with hp!!!

Mark Hargett put an SC on his 3.0L engine. He never quite got it to run right despite a lot of nice plumbing and an Engine Management system...
